Moriah Mount Summary STEPBible TIPNR

Mount Moriah was the site where Solomon built the temple in Jerusalem.

Moriah Mount Article STEPBible TIPNR

Mount Moriah is the place where Solomon built the temple in Jerusalem (2Chr. 3:1). It is also the location where God tested Abraham by asking him to sacrifice his son Isaac (Gen. 22:2). God provided a ram as a substitute for Isaac, and Abraham named the place "The LORD Will Provide" (Gen. 22:14). The temple was built on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, which David purchased to build an altar to the Lord (1Chr. 21:18-30; 22:1).
