Conditional birth estimate
Conditional birth bounds under generation assumptions; not attested parental ages, biological limits or a lifespan.
The anchors give incompatible conditional intervals. This calculation establishes no birth year.
Below are relatives with a selected birth year, the generations separating them, and the interval allowed by each anchor. Each relative’s page shows available dates and sources. The overall estimate uses the intersection of the allowed intervals.

Jalam was one of the sons born to Esau, the son of Isaac, and his wife Oholibamah, as recorded in Gen.36.5, 14, and 18, and 1Ch 1:35. Esau, also known as Edom, settled in the region of Seir and became the ancestor of the Edomites. Jalam and his brothers, Jeush and Korah, were born in Canaan before Esau moved to Seir. Gen 36:18 lists Jalam as one of the chiefs of Edom, indicating that he and his descendants held a position of authority within the Edomite tribal structure.
