The year of Jotham_2's birth is the year his reign began (3212) - his age when his reign began (25) = 3187

The year of Jotham_2's death (3231) is the year his reign ended = 3231

Absolute years are conditional chronological estimates. A biblical passage may state an age or event, but does not by itself establish a BCE year. Different calendar systems are preserved separately.

Conditional birth estimate

Conditional birth bounds under generation assumptions; not attested parental ages, biological limits or a lifespan.

The anchors give incompatible conditional intervals. This calculation establishes no birth year.

Below are relatives with a selected birth year, the generations separating them, and the interval allowed by each anchor. Each relative’s page shows available dates and sources. The overall estimate uses the intersection of the allowed intervals.

Jotham Summary STEPBible TIPNR

Jotham, the son of Uzziah, was a king of Judah who reigned for sixteen years.

Jotham Article STEPBible TIPNR

Jotham was a king of Judah who reigned for sixteen years, from approximately 750 to 735 BC (2Ki 15:32-33; 2Ch 27:1). He was the son of Uzziah (also known as Azariah) and succeeded him as king (2Ki 15:7; 2Ch 26:23).

Jotham became co-regent with his father Uzziah when Uzziah was struck with leprosy for burning incense in the temple (2Ki 15:5; 2Ch 26:21). After Uzziah's death, Jotham assumed full control of the kingdom (2Ki 15:7; 2Ch 26:23).

During his reign, Jotham is described as doing what was right in the eyes of the Lord, following the example of his father Uzziah (2Ki 15:34; 2Ch 27:2). He rebuilt the Upper Gate of the temple and carried out construction projects on the wall at Ophel (2Ch 27:3).

Jotham also successfully waged war against the Ammonites, subjecting them to tribute (2Ch 27:5). He became powerful because he walked steadfastly before the Lord his God (2Ch 27:6).

The prophets Isaiah, Hosea, and Micah prophesied during Jotham's reign (Isa 1:1; Hos 1:1; Mic 1:1). Jotham died and was buried with his fathers in the City of David, and his son Ahaz succeeded him as king (2Ki 15:38; 2Ch.27.7, 9).

Jotham 2 Dictionary Easton's Bible Dictionary (1897)

The son and successor of Uzziah on the throne of Judah. As during his last years Uzziah was excluded from public life on account of his leprosy, his son, then twenty-five years of age, administered for seven years the affairs of the kingdom in his father’s stead (2 Chr. 26:21, 23; 27:1). After his father’s death he became sole monarch, and reigned for sixteen years (B.C. 759-743). He ruled in the fear of God, and his reign was prosperous. He was contemporary with the prophets Isaiah, Hosea, and Micah, by whose ministrations he profited. He was buried in the sepulchre of the kings, greatly lamented by the people (2 Kings 15:38; 2 Chr. 27:7-9).
